Mr. William Dewey Masters, 96, of Springfield, died at 7:35 p.m., Friday January 6, 1995 at Medco Center. A native of Washington County, he was born November 23, 1898, to the late Squire J. and Ida Freeman Masters. He was a member of the Baptist church and a World War I navy veteran. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Ruby Elliott Masters; two sons, William J. Masters, Elmhurst, IL and Lewis E. Masters, Anderson, IN; one step daughter, Mrs. Hazel Brooks, Seattle, WA; two sisters, Mrs. Faye Carey, Mackville and Mrs. Stella Goodknow, Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lila Marks Masters, and a second wife, Mrs. Gladys Masters. Funeral services for Mr. Masters were held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Harry Coultas, Mackville Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in the Masters family cemetery near Cardwell.
