Harley Glen Johnson passed from this life on October 24, 2020, at the age of 88 years. He was born on June 15, 1932, in Tuscumbia, Missouri, to Ira William Johnson and Julia Barnhart Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Julia Johnson; five brothers, Wade Johnson, James Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Fred Johnson, and Amos Johnson; five sisters, Bertha Keithly, Mary Henson, Lena Wood, Maud Johnson, and Mildred Johnson; one child, Ray Dwight Johnson; one grandchild, Matthew William Bilyeu; and one great-grandchild, Kaleb Jase Veasman.

He is survived by his wife, Erma Jean Johnson; four children, Glenna Bilyeu (Jesse) of Dixon; Julia Anderson (David) of Western Grove, Arkansas; Billy Johnson (Becky) of Dixon; and Cynthia Pender (Frank) of Lebanon; thirteen grandchildren, Amber, Jenna, Seth, Cora, Luke, Lance, Blake, Rachelle, Austin, Hank, Chantry, Slater, and Charlotte; twenty-five great-grandchildren, Landon, Rylenn, Matthew, Sawyer, Jessalee, Allierose, Cadence, Issac, Blake, Madison, Cameron, Harlie, Tucker, Clayton, Mariesa, Cody, Finleigh, Macy, Myla, Briar, Henry, Barron, Lynnox, Nolani, and Killian; and one great-great-granddaughter, Jozie.

Harley enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He especially loved Brookie fishing in Colorado and made several trips there for fishing and camping. In later years, he enjoyed his time at Truman Lake, jug fishing and camping. Some of Harley’s other hobbies included gardening and woodworking. He was an avid photographer.

Harley married Erma Jean Howser on December 12, 1953, in Tuscumbia, Missouri.

From 1949 to 1951, he worked as an auto mechanic at Eldon Equipment Co. in Eldon, MO. In February of 1952, he joined the US Marines, where he served in the Korean War. After the Marines, he had a varied work history, including: Dow Chemical, Madison, IL; McDonald Douglas, St Louis, MO; Prison guard in Jefferson City, MO; He then started his own small construction company where he worked in carpentry, building many homes, including his own and those of his children. Though Harley did not aspire to higher education, his love of woodworking, carpentry, and craftsmanship led him to a career at Fort Leonard Wood as Chief of Training Aids, Devices, and Simulators, where he worked until his retirement in 1988. He was known to all as a man of character, with integrity and high moral ethics. He was baptized into Jesus Christ, obeying the call of God.

Memorial services for Harley will be held at the Dixon Church of Christ (12000 State Hwy 28), on Wednesday, October 28th. A visitation for friends and family will be from 10 - 11 am, with the funeral at 11 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Tuscumbia, MO.
