Obituary from Deseret News (Salt Lake City, UT) - Thursday, December 15, 1966:
Mrs. Sarah Rebecca Stay Jacobson, church worker and former teacher, died of natural causes, December 14, 1966 at her home.
Mrs. Jacobson graduated from the University of Utah in 1903. She taught at Holladay School for five years and then substituted in the school for another year. At the University she was a member of T.A.N. Club, first of its kind at the U. of U. for women. She also belonged to Wilford Literary Club.
Mrs. Jacobson was widow of Baltzar Han Jacobson, first Rhodes Scholar from Utah. He was a teacher for many years in Salt Lake and taught languages at the U. of U. They were married November 28, 1907 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died October 17, 1930.
Active in Relief Society, she served as president in Wilford Ward and as a counselor in Grant Stake presidency. She also had served in various capacities in Sunday School and YWMIA.
For 15 years she was secretary of Elysian Burial Gardens. She was also a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Wilford and East Millcreek camps, and had done Red Cross work.
Born October 16, 1881 in Salt Lake City, she was daughter of Joseph Hyrum and Mary Cornelia Woodbury Stay.
Survivors include sons and daughters, Cecil B., Joseph S., Leo O., Mrs. Errol W., (Rowena) Miller, Mrs. Torleif S. (Rebecca Marie) Knaphus, Mrs. M. Gibbs (Katherine) Walther, Mrs. Lawrence L. (Phyllis) Riches, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. D. Emerton (Margaret) Williams, Berkeley, California; 34 grandchildren; one brother and one sister, W. Valentine Stay and Mrs. Joseph A., (Catherine) Green, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held Saturday noon at East Millcreek Stake Center.
