Wilford Stay Dies, Age 74
SALT LAKE CITY – Wilford (Bill) Valintine Stay, 74, 15454 E 33rd S., died Saturday at his home of natural causes. His son, Dennis G. Stay, resides in Orem.
He was born Feb. 14, 1897 in Salt Lake City, a son of Joseph H. and Mary C. Woodbury Stay. He married Rhoda D. Gunn on June 14, 1917 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Mr. Stay was a former employee of the Salt Lake City Engineering Department. He served a Western States mission for the LDS Church.
Surviving are his widow; three sons and four daughters, Mrs. Blaine J. (Myrtle) Wixom, Mrs. Chester E. (Betty) Bailey Jr., both of Slat Lake City; Mrs. Walton (Fern) Rice of Murray; Mrs. Otho (LaVois) Strait of Portland, Ore.; Wilford G. Stay of Kearns; Val G. Stay of Sandy; and Dennis G. Stay of Orem; 30 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine S. Green of Granger.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilford LDS Ward chapel, 3179 Highland Dr. Friends may call at 4760 S. State, Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Redwood Memorial Estates.
