Doyle Hugh McMillan, age 94, of Dixie Road in the Flag Branch community, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Laughlin Health Care Center.

He was in the US Marine Corp from 1948-1958 as a staff sergeant in Quanice, VA and California. He was a member of the Honor Guard at President Eisenhower's inauguration on January 20, 1953. He served in the Korean

War from September 1950- December of 1951, and the Air Force in Japan from 1946-1947.

"I loved every day of being a Marine, and that includes being in Korea," he said. "If I was able and could go, I'd go back again. I have no regrets whatsoever. The only regret I have is taking the discharge"

He attended Bethesda Church as long as his health permitted.

He is survived by his brother: Von Ray (Aletha) of Newport; stepchildren: Naomi Blake (Johnny) and Earlin Darnell (Ada); a sister-in-law: Muncie Jones; step grandchildren: Robin Tullock, Ronnie Crum, Jeff Darnell, Teresa Darnell, Nick Darnell, and Joni Parker; step great grandchildren: Molly Parker, Mason Parker, Shelly Smith, Devin Wilcox, Jacob Tullock, Landon Darnell, Trevor Darnell, Kristen Darnell, E. J. Swatzell, Madeline Darnell and Charlotte Darnell; special friends: Danny and Jackie Waites; several great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews;

He was preceded in death by his wifes: Nellie J. McMillan and Irene McMillan; his father: Stokley J. McMillan; his mother: Gertie Lee McMillan;

brothers and sisters: Alvin McMillan, Ruth Foreman, Beatrice Foreman, Charles McMillan, Oneil McMillan, Jack McMillan and Albert McMillan; step daughter: Susie Crum and a step grandson: Larry Darnell.

Interment will be held on Monday at New Bethel Cemetery at 3:00pm.
