Charles L. McMillan, 80, of Susong Memorial Road, Greeneville, died Thursday at his home.

He attended Susong Memorial Church as long as his health permitted.

Mr. McMillan was a disabled veteran, having served with the U.S. Army Second Infantry Division during the Korean War.

He was awarded the Purple Heart along with several other medals of honor.

His family states, "He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

"His favorite pastimes were fishing with his family and friends as well as enjoying all the wondrous beauty from his many vacations out West."

Survivors include the "love of his life" and wife of 57 years: Irene McMillan; two daughters: Rita Braun and Diana Inscore; four grandchildren: Jerry Inscore, Cynthia Braun, Teresa Ricker, and Stephanie Reaves, all of Greeneville; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Von Ray and Aletha McMillan of Newport and Doyle McMillan of Greeneville; a sister-in-law and her husband: Judy and George Wrenn of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; his special friends: Junior Gentry, Bobby Knight, Danny Cannon, and Tommy Fawbush; and his special neighbors: J.C. Hamilton, and the family of the late Brownlow Norton.

He was preceded in death by a son: Charles McMillan Jr.; a grandson: Micheal Inscore; four brothers: J.D. McMillan, Albert McMillan, Alvin McMillan, and Oneil McMillan; and two sisters: Beatrice Foreman and Ruth Foreman.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today at Kiser Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Sam Smith and the Rev. Alfred Cutshall will officiate.

Interment will follow in River Hill Cemetery. A military graveside service will be conducted by the Greeneville-Greene County Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Wilfred Hensley, Harvey Collins, Landon Wilds, Lyle Foreman, Danny Foreman, and Robbie Foreman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kenneth Susong, and the members of the Men's Sunday School Class of Susong Memorial Church
