Russell T. Downey, 80, of Galesburg, formerly of Keithsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.
Born Nov. 14, 1919, in Laura to Thomas Henry and Lena Myrtle Roberts Downey, he married Betty J. Lawton on July 9, 1938, in Plymouth. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Diana Dress and Mrs. Tom (Nancy) McCune, both of Galesburg; and three sisters, Irene McKee, Helen Smallwood and Eula Mae Van Fleet, all of Galesburg.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a plumber and worked for Thomas Plumbing and Heating in Galesburg for 21 years, retiring in 1984. He also was a member of Plymouth Masonic Lodge 286. He was a charter member of Keithsburg Boat Club.
Committal services will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
