Benjamin Jr. was the son of Benjamin Fowle the immigrant, born 1772 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. His mother Martha Lea, born in 1776, was also an English immigrant. Benjamin Jr. had six siblings, all born in New York State: Jacob, Susan, James, Elizabeth, Charles and Martha. He married Caroline Kellogg of Connecticut, daughter of Charles Kellogg and Lydia Treadway.
