William Asbury Bowden passed away at the St. Francis hospital in Grand Island Monday afternoon at 4:30 at the age of 75 years. . . . Mr. Bowden was born October 12, 1848, in Davis [sic] county, North Carolina. When about seventeen years of age he moved to Indiana. Two years later he went to Winterset, Iowa, and there was united in marriage with Rachel Black. Three children were born to this union, Julia, Cora and Marcel. Julia, Marcel and the mother preceded Mr. Bowden during the early years of his wedded life.

Mr. Bowden came to Nebraska in 1883, locating on a farm one mile south and two and a half miles east of Doniphan. Here he met and married Sarah Jane Marsh. The lived on the farm until May 5, 1914, when they moved to Doniphan where Mr. Bowden spent the rest of his life. Besides his wife and daughter, Mrs. Cora Hann, of Cordell, Oklahoma, he is survived by his brothers, I. W. Bowden, of Greenwood, Ind., S. W. and C. L. Bowden, and a sister, Mrs. Julia Allen, of Advance, N. C.; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, Fay Marsh who has been in the Bowden home since infancy. . .

He was a member of the Methodist church. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. C. F. Luscher having charge and burial was in Cedar View cemetery.
