Dr. Dorothy Marie Bohac, age 73, of Austin went to her eternal home on February 11, 2002 at North Austin Medical Center.

Rosary will be recited 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 14, 2002 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel in Taylor. Celebration of Life Mass will be 10:00 AM, Friday at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger with Rev. Isidore Ndagizimana officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger.

Dorothy was born on August 18, 1928 to Josef N. and Olga (Cervenka) Bohac in Williamson County, Texas. During her early years, she lived in the Granger area and graduated from Granger High School. Dorothy received her masters degree in education from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos and her doctorate in philosophy from the University of Texas in Austin. She was an educator in Austin, Granger and surrounding area schools and libraries. When Dorothy retired from education, she spent many years researching her Czech heritage with several trips to the Czech Republic visiting her relatives. She then spent many years promoting the Czech heritage and culture in area schools. Dorothy was also instrumental in organizing Czech classes at Austin Community College. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Austin, Phi Kappa Phi, St. Helen s KJZT Society #18, KJT Society #28, both of Granger, the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center, Inc. of LaGrange, Czech Heritage Society of Texas, Austin Czech Historical Association, the Austin Geological Society and a former board member of the Retired State Employees Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two brothers, Joe Bohac of Bartlett and Rudy Bohac and wife, Ouida of Austin of Bartlett; two aunts, Albina M. Dykowski and Agnes Bohac, both of Granger; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Bohac, Mark Bohac, Jay Bohac, John Albin Simcik, Terry Pekar and Franklin Bohac.
