Cecil Marvin “Junior” Cody, age 61, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, October 1, 2020 at his home in Nashville.

He was born June 2, 1959 in Bloomington, to his parents, C. Marvin Sr. and Ruth A. (Weddle) Cody. Junior was a 1977 graduate of Brown County High School and was the co-owner and operator of C.M. Cody & Sons in Brown County.

He attended Brown County Community Church and enjoyed the outdoors by shooting clay pigeons, mushroom hunting and fishing. He was a fan of old western movies with John Wayne being his favorite actor. Junior enjoyed woodworking and made many graduation gifts that included three hope chests and a gun cabinet. He was known for piddling in his vegetable garden and caring for his dog, Susie.

His true love was for his family. He loved the memories of family time spent boating at Lake Lemon, traveling to visit family or just all being together at family outings. He will be remembered for being a hard worker, his sense of humor and his commitment to his family.

He married his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Linda F. (Robertson) Cody on April 12, 1980 in Unionville. Junior and Linda were rarely seen apart and are now reunited back together after her unexpected passing just ten days ago on September 21, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his father, C. Marvin Cody Sr.

Junior is survived by his daughters, Amanda (Dustin) Smoot of Brown County and Chrissy Cody of North Vernon; mother, Ruth Cody of Brown County; siblings, Cindy L. (Tony) Grant of Bargersville and Muff (Nancy) Cody of Brown County; mother in law, Catherine M. Robertson of Unionville; grandchildren, Maggie, Tristan and Charlie Smoot; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Ken Smith will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bridge Church Cemetery in Unionville.

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Junior to the Bridge Church Cemetery, 6996 N. Tunnel Road, Unionville, 47468.
