**
Edmond James Stockard, age 97, departed this life on September 9, 2020.

He was born on September 12, 1922 to the late Clifford and Ina Stockard in Waynesboro, TN. He married the love of his life, Margrett Stockard on July 21, 1943 and celebrated 77 years of marriage this year.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 5 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Margrett Stockard; and his five children, Michael Stockard, Danny Stockard, Regina Dillard, Trina (Paul) Stott, and Ryan Stockard; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Grace Agner, Pauline Kilburn, and Elsie Cothran.

Edmond was a World War II Veteran and served as a military policeman. He retired from Lear Siegler after 30 years working as a supervisor, and then began working at Ouimet as a supervisor where he retired after 10 years. Even after retiring for the second time, he continued to work at home and started his own lawnmower repair service. He was a very hard worker and loved to stay busy.

Edmond lived a long and happy life. He was a loving and devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was confident in his abilities to achieve what he needed to support his family. He would give them the world if he could. He loved to tell stories of his youth where he grew up and his time served in the Army. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his family, taking care of his wife, reading his Bible, and attending Church service on Sundays. He was a very strong, kind, supportive, and caring man and loved his family very much. He left an imprint on the lives of so many and will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Woodbine Funeral Home-Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road.
