Thomas Saltsman was the son of Martin Saltsman and Jane Farquar. He married Narcissa Alberta Nance Sept. 30, 1857 in Davidson County Tenn.
Thomas was a Nashville photographer from as early as 1855 until, at least, sometime in the 1890's. He is found credited as the photographer of both Confederate and Union soldiers including several poses of Gen. Ulysses S. Grant taken about 1863. Thomas is also found living in Rutherford County TN in the 1890's as a merchant dealing in photographs so it is assumed he was still a photographer at that time.
