CALLED FROM EARTH.
Death of Mrs. Mary Ann D. Nance at Her Home Last Night.
Mrs. Mary Ann D. Nance, wife (of) Mr. C.W. Nance, died at the family residence, four miles from the city on the Buena Vista Turnpike, at 10 o'clock last night after an illness of one week. Mrs. Nance was 76 years of age. She was a daughter of Mr. Henry Avent, of Huntsville, Ala., and was married to Mr. Nance in 1836. She has had six children, five of whom are still living. Mrs. Nance was a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist Church and her death wll be a source of deepest regret to the members of that congregation, in which she labored so faithfully, and to the many friends and neighbors, whose respect and love she had won. She was a kind and indulgent mother, a loving and affectionate wife. She was a good and charitable neighbor, always ready to evince a neighborly regard for others and lend a helping hand to those in trouble and affliction.
Her funeral will take place at the Primitive Church in South Nashville at 11 o'clock to-morrow morning and her body will be interred at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Burial to-day at 11 a.m. at Mount Olivet.
Carriages will leave M.S. Combs this morning at 8 o'clock.

Contributor note: Ann (Avent) Nance was my 3rd great grandmother. In no other record, except the above obituary, have I ever seen "Mary" given as part of her given name. I tend to think that was a mistake in her obituary.
