Per transcript of his personal Dawes Commission testimony in Muskogee, Oklahoma: James Perry, and his brother, walked from the Chickasaw reservation area into the Creek reservation area to live. James had a wife who abandoned he and his daughter Susie, while Susie was an infant. Susies mother went to live in the Henryetta, Oklahoma area. At the time of the collection of testimony, daughter Susie Perry was a very young girl. The result of testimony was that Susie was counted as a Creek tribal member. (This Dawes Commission testimony is maintained via microfiche in the basement of the Public library in Muskogee, Oklahoma. It was located, read, and printed off by Dion Francis.)
At the time of James Perry's death he was residing North of Eufaula, Oklahoma. 22 days later, Pearl Harbor would be attacked. He was survived by his daughter, Susie Perry. He was also survived by his grandchildren, Lewis Mitchell, Hattie Jane Mitchell (Beaver), Ethel Rosalynd Mitchell (Anderson), Kathryn Mitchell (Harjo), and infant grandson - Dion O'leary Francis (Sr.). An additional grandson (John Turner Scott) would be born approximately 3 years later.
I am not aware of any other children or grandchildren of James Perry. To the best of my recollection, there were eventually 18 great grandchildren of James Perry. The grandchildren and the number of children they had in parenthesis. Lewis Mitchell (0 - KIA WW2); Hattie Jane Beaver -nee Mitchell (5); Rosie Anderson - nee Mitchell, (0); Kathryn Harjo - nee Mitchell, (5); Dion Francis, Sr. (6); & John Scott, Jr. (2).
