Mr. Sam Stanfield, 87, of Union City passed away 9:21 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2020, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Brother Ron Gray will officiate.
Pallbearers will be James Ryan Scates, Bradley Buffington, Tristan Smothers, Bryce White, Jacob Arnold, Jayce Rogers and Keaten Brown.
There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Sam was born August 19, 1933, in Lake County, son of the late James Maden and Lucille (Adams) Stanfield. He was retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Another Thyme Catering. Sam was a veteran of the United States Army where he served from 1955 to 1957. He was a mentor to many young men. Sam loved fishing, Atlanta Braves baseball and all Union City Golden Tornado sports. He was a member of First Church of God in Union City and left a legacy of great love.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Rochelle Stanfield; his daughter, Patti Osborne and grandchildren, Charla Archie and Jaime Buffington (Josh); great grandsons, James Ryan Scates and Bradley Buffington; his daughter, Debra Polk (Dick) and grandson, Jamie Polk (Alice); great grandson, Sam Polk; great granddaughter, Addie Polk; granddaughter, Dee Dee Omenson (Eric); great granddaughters, Emma Joy Omenson and Navy Leigh Omenson; Taylor Malebranche (Hans); great great grandchildren, Jobi Malebranche and Christian Melbranche; his brother, Billy Stanfield (Tena); sister-in-law, Linda Stanfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Aubrey Stanfield.
