G. Ray Allen, 78, of Semmie Drive, died June 2, 1999.
Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Virginia Powers Allen; sisters, Cassie O'Brien, Dot Swanner, Catherine Craft and Carol Skinner, all of Virginia Beach, and Thelma Montgomery of Chesapeake; brothers, Frank Allen and Ronnie Allen and his wife, Jean, all of Virginia Beach; sister-in-law, Nora Hurley of Bristol, Tenn.; and brother-in-law, Robert Powers of Blountville, Tenn.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Joseph E. Brewer. Interment will be in Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor T.E. Thieman and the Rev. Lowe Norman. Memorials may be made to the Creeds Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad. "
