Marjorie Ann Heath Arington

Marjorie Heath Arington, longtime resident of the Dogwood Community, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

She was born April 21, 1932 in Mississippi County to Noah S. and Margaret Hurley Heath. After graduation from Diehlstadt High School where she was selected Valedictorian of her class, she moved to St. Louis where she attended Business College. Following her schooling, she married and moved to Alaska where her husband was stationed with the US Army. They returned to Mississippi County where she dedicated herself to caring for her growing family while finding time to assist with the bookkeeping for the Dogwood Store and the family farm. She was a longtime member of the Dogwood United Methodist Church where she served in various capacities including Church Treasurer and Sunday School teacher. Active in her community, she had been a member of the Mississippi County Extension Club, assisted with the 4-H program, was a former board member for the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center and currently a member of the Citizens Bank Board of Directors.

On September 23, 1950 she married Bill Arington who preceded her in death on October 7, 2008.

Surviving are her children, Sandy (Stuart) Bain of Dogwood and Carol (Jerry) Morris of East Prairie; her daughter in law, Claudia Arington of Dogwood; and “the favorite child”, Dr. Jimmy Heath of Dogwood; one sister, Brenda Morris of Sikeston; her sister in law, Nancy Heath Moore of Charleston; one brother in law, Arlie Arington, of the state of California; seven grandchildren, Paul Moore, Stephanie (Chris) Wirken, Leslie (John) Allgier, John (Lauren) Arington, Justin ( Jessica) Bain, Chris (Teresa) Morris, and Lyndsi (Alex) Lee; eleven great grandchildren, Harrison Moore, Laurann Allgier, Layne Allgier, Nic Wirken, Camrynn Arington, Cadence Arington, Delaney Bain, Will Bain, Arington Bain, Anna Kate Lee, and Taryn Morris. Her many nieces and nephews were a very important part of her life as well as a host of other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Arington, a daughter in law, Glenda Arington, and one brother, Kenneth Heath and one sister, Martha Faye Heath.

Family and Friends will assemble in the Dogwood Cemetery on Sunday, September 13, 2020, for a Sunset Funeral Service to begin at 6:30 pm. Brian Abbott, pastor of the Dogwood United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be John Allgier, John Arington, Justin Bain, Alex Lee, Harrison Moore, Paul Moore, Chris Morris, and Chris Wirken.

Memorial Contributions may be given to the Dogwood United Methodist Church, c/o Tammi Hutcheson, 204 S. 411th Road, East Prairie, MO 63845.
