Mrs. Clara Sue Bowen, age 84, of Macclenny, FL passed away, Thursday, September 3rd, in the Haven Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, FL following a brief illness. Clara Sue was born in Macclenny, FL and resided in Baldwin, FL before returning to Baker County over 40 years ago. She was employed as the Administrator of Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital and Frank Wells Nursing Home for many years before her retirement. She and her late husband Harry enjoyed traveling in their RV attending bluegrass festivals, fellowshipping with their friends of the N.E. Florida Blue Grass Club and the Friends of Twin Oaks Blue Grass Group, and playing canasta with her friends. She was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, James Thrift and Edna Thomas Thrift and her husband, Harry Newton Bowen. She is survived by her son, James “Jimmy” D. Bowen of Macclenny, FL and brother, Keith Thrift (Jessalyn) also of Macclenny, FL. A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Bowen will be held on Monday, September 7th at 10 A.M.in the Macedonia Cemetery, Macclenny, FL, with Mr. George Wells of Jacksonville, FL speaking on behalf of the family. Family and friends may gather and visit with the family from 9:45 to 10 A.M., prior to the graveside service.
