Dorothy graduated from Chester High School in 1949 and then attended Lancaster Bible College, graduating in 1953. She moved to Jacksonville where she met and later married Charles Winton on April 9, 1963. She loved to tell the story of how the Lord showed her that Charles was the one for her. Though she did often say that the Lord had a sense of humor when He made her a bookkeeper by occupation, it was her absolute joy in life to be a wife and mother to three sons: Frederick, John, and William and to serve Jesus by teaching the primary grade level in Sunday School at Faith Baptist Church for many decades. One could often find her singing joyfully as she went through her daily routines at home, and she did not hesitate to speak of her first love, Jesus. She was a delight and will be missed by many.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, James Dugan; mother, Beatrice (Smith) Dugan; brother, James Dugan; and loving husband of 46 years, Charles Winton. She is survived by sons, Frederick, John (Laura), and William (Denise); grandchildren Joshua, William, Ian, Grace, Anna, and Eric and many extended relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on September 3 at Christian Family Chapel’s north auditorium, 10356 Old Saint Augustine Road, and interment will follow at Mandarin Cemetery.
