Thomas Earl Farr, 83, of Mesa, husband to Lurlyne (Young) Farr, passed away peacefully on Friday, 6 September 2019 in Chandler, Arizona with family gathered at his bedside. Born on 14 April 1936 in St. Johns, Arizona, Earl is the ninth of ten children of David Ernest Farr and Natalia (Smith) Farr and twin of Junius Merl Farr. Earl spent his happy childhood in St Johns. He attended high school in Mesa and college at Arizona State University and the University of Arizona during which time he met and married his sweetheart, Lurlyne, on 9 August 1962 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this summer. Earl is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities throughout his life, notably as a missionary to Switzerland, Belgium, and France; Bishop and Stake President in the Holbrook Arizona Stake; missionary (with Lurlyne) to Kirtland, Ohio; and most recently as Stake Patriarch for the Kaysville Utah South Stake. He owned multiple businesses in Holbrook, Arizona before working for the Church as a vehicle fleet administrator in Salt Lake City, Utah. Earl was a man of quiet dignity, a valiant husband, father, friend, and servant/leader. He loved the Lord and his family. He had a clever wit and twinkle in his eye. He was well read with a partiality for history and his hero Abraham Lincoln. He had a fine voice for speaking and singing. He delighted in dancing with his sweetheart and took great pleasure in playing with his grandchildren. He was known for his ability to fix things from broken engines to broken hearts.

Preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings Norman, Genevieve, Dean, Ardath, Sylvia, Gus, and twin Merl; and daughter Julie Natalia Farr.

Surviving are his cherished wife Lurlyne; siblings LaMarr Farr and LaMell Ashcroft; eight children Rebecca Ann (Jonathan) Jackson, Martin Earl Farr; Catherine Lyn (Mikel) Nybo, Lanae Beth (Brett) Duersch, Patricia Kay (Timothy) LaRue, Thomas Kent (Melissa) Farr, Nathan Dean (Samantha) Farr, Sharon Maria (Kelvin) Wursten; his forty-one grandchildren; and his five great-grand children. His family takes comfort in loving memories and hope of a joyful reunion in the next life.
