Verlie (McCoy) Slater passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, OH. She was born on January 11, 1929, in Robinson Creek, KY, the daughter of Finney Harrison and Lenore (Johnson) McCoy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Robert Slater; four sisters, Gladys Rothschild, Mayme Throop, Opal Sargent, Elizabeth Dunbar; two brothers, James and Robert Eugene McCoy; one niece, Jennifer Mays-Hayes.
Verlie is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Jimmy) Herren; one son, Samuel (Becky) Slater; two sisters, Myrtle Taylor, and Dorothy Mays; three grandchildren, Robert, James and Sarah; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Blake and Jayden.
Visitation held at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, Fremont, OH. Interment in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville, PA.
