Charlotte was born on April 15, 1940 near Bunker Hill, Mo., to Henry Carl and Leora (Johnson) Armstrong. The family moved to the Uncas, Oklahoma, area, where she spent many of her younger years, before returning to the Pineville area, where she graduated from Pineville High School in 1958. She started working at a young age and continued working until she retired from the McDonald County Bank.
She married Floyd Gardner on June 7, 1959. The couple moved to California for a year while Floyd served in the US Army. They returned to Pineville, built a home, farmed and raised chickens.
Charlotte loved working in her yard, planting and maintaining her flowerbeds. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed having family dinners and hosted more gatherings and Thanksgivings than can be counted. Charlotte loved all her family and was a great friend and help to many.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pineville for many years. She was passionate about the Pineville Cemetery and dedicated many years to its care.
She adored her granddaughters, Morgan and Jessica, and rarely missed a sporting event or any of their activities.
She was preceded in death by her son Darrell, husband Floyd, father Carl, and her sister, Sharon.
She is survived by her daughter, Alicia Bayley, and her husband, Bruce, and granddaughters Morgan and Jessica, all of Gravette, Arkansas; her mother, Leora Armstrong, Pineville, Missouri; brothers Jim Armstrong and his wife, Faith, of Pineville, Missouri; Rick and his wife, Patricia, of Cyclone, Texas; several sisters- and brothers-in law, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gardner are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. Burial will follow in the Pineville Cemetery.
