Roscoe was a half-brother of Ralph M. Compton, John L. Compton, Emil Z. Compton, Earl Bills Compton, and Catherine (Compton) Wertz, children of Moses D. Compton and his second wife, Anna B. (Bills) Tindle.

ROSCOE COMPTON IS LAID TO REST
Final tributes were paid to the memory of Roscoe (Doodle) Compton, 57-year-old Johnson County farmer, at services conducted at the Vandivier parlors here Monday afternoon by the Rev. Glenn O. Mills, pastor of the Edinburgh Christian Church. Burial followed in the Rest Haven Cemetery at Edinburgh.
Mr. Compton was found dead on the front porch of his farm home a short distance north of Smiley's Mill, five miles east of Franklin, late Friday night.
Pall bearers were Will Shuck, John Newton, Oral Hendrickson, Will Short, Byron Webb and Roy Short.
The many floral offerings were carried by Mrs. Will Short, Mrs. Martin Hodcroft, Mrs. Orphia Wirey, Mrs. Denzil Clark, Mrs. Dale Wertz, Mrs. James Compton, Mrs. Carl Long, Mrs. Harold Patterson, Miss Eleanor Wirey, Mrs. Paul Gillaspy, Mrs. Fenton Wright and Mrs. Earl Compton.
