Mrs. Flynn, Gladwin Centenarian Dies

Gladwin centenarian, Mrs. Margaret R. Flynn, 102, of 235 N. Silverleaf St., died Tuesday morning in the Midland Hospital Center. Born in Mt. Pleasant on November 6,1880, she grew up in Howell and moved to Gladwin County in 1905. She and her husband operated Flynn Grain Elevator for many years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Sacred Heart Altar Society and the Gladwin Literary Club.

The former Margaret Powell, she was married to Frank Flynn on October 14, 1903, in Howell. He preceded her in death January 1, 1961.

Surviving are 5 sons, Rev. Father Francis of Muskegon, Raymond and James of Gladwin, Robert of Saginaw and Wendell of Detroit; 3 daughters, Mrs. Helen Husted of Waterford, Marguerite of Detroit and Mrs. Ruth Jean Fahalee of Farmington Hills; 28 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Edward in 1978 and Donald in 1981.

A funeral mass will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A Rosary will be said Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Mathews Funeral Home. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Church Mass Fund. Gladwin County Record dated 7-27/1983 Column – 6 Page – 1.
