Mrs. Dean Owens Kelley, 84, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation. A graveside service for Mrs. Kelley will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, August 6th, in Live Oak Cemetery with Brother Charles Sipper officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Kelley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She spent her life taking care of others, from her own family to her community. She illustrated a model example of hard work for her children, who also loved her fantastic home-cooking more than anything else. Above all else, her devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, could be seen by all who knew her. She will be sorely missed by all those precious loved ones she leaves behind.
Mrs. Kelley was preceded in death by her husband, John Cecil Kelley; parents, John Thomas & Rosie Burgans Owens; and four siblings, Mack Owens, J.T. Owens, Geraldine Strops, and Sarah Jean Williams.
She is survived by her six children, Denise Carter, Allen Kelley, Peggy (Phillip) Garner, Paula Lambert, Jeffrey Kelley, and Karen (Bobby) Pettus; ten grandchildren, Patrick (Kristine) Carter, Tyler (Allie) Griffin, Kerri Griffin, Victoria (Mason) Pettus, Elissa Lewis, Shannon Kelley, Cory Kelley, Nickolas Lewis, Mason Kelley, and Aaron Kelley; eleven great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Carter, Samantha Carter, Hailey Carter, Maddy Coggins, Olivia Griffin, Anna Wesley Pettus, Kenley Mason Pettus, Jolene Kelley, Mark Carter, Kayden Carter, and Payton Carter; brother, Jerone (Sonya) Owens; special niece, Rita (Doug) Brown; and numerous other nieces & nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Patrick Carter, Tyler Griffin, Nickolas Lewis, Aaron Kelley, Bobby Pettus, and Phillip Garner.
