In 1952, Don started working at Minnesota Power as a clerical typist. In 1956, she was united in marriage to Keith Duff. Together she and Keith have two daughters, Cynde and Shari. After having resided in Duluth, her family moved to Superior, Wisconsin in 1968. She worked at the clubhouse at the Nemadji Golf Course, was involved in PTA at Bryant Elementary School, and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for several years. Don had an open-door policy at their home where family friends were always welcome. In 1973, the family moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Don worked at the Beaumont Clinic in the medical records until 1976 when she and her daughters moved back to Duluth. This same year, Don began working again at Minnesota Power as an accounting clerk in the Tax Department.
In 1988, Don was united in marriage to Ralph Voorhees. In 1989, they both retired from Minnesota Power. Once retired, they enjoyed and traveled many miles throughout the country in their motorhome. They eventually spent their winters in one of their favorite locations, Lake Havasu, Arizona.
Besides travel, Don's favorite hobbies included reading, listening to music, and competing in her bowling leagues. She also enjoyed watching all sports, particularly hockey and football. In high school, she participated in band and performed in school plays. Her trip to Hawaii in 1982 was one of her most fond memories. Most of all, Don loved her family, and she looked forward to hearing about her grandkid's activities and accomplishments. She will be remembered greatly for her humor, sparkling eyes and smile, positive attitude, inner strength, and unconditional love. Don was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her parents, and her brother-in-law, David Vose.
Don is survived by her daughter, Cynde (Keith) Johnson and their children, Kristi (Greg) Rian, and Eric (Alexis) Johnson; daughter, Shari (Tom) Sega and their children, Andrea (Rob) Johnson, and Grant Sega; sister, Roberta (Bobbi) Vose; nephew, Bob (Amy) Vose and their children, Laurel and Patrick Vose; niece, Elisabeth Vose; stepdaughter, Lois Voorhees Nylen (Jim Putnam) and her daughters, Leslie (fianc Ryan Ponto) Johnson and her children, Kylee and Allie Johnson; and Lindsey (Pat) Peterson and their children, Kaylee and Caden Peterson.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the BeeHive Homes of Duluth staff for their excellent care and compassion for Don while she made her home there.
