Keith I. Duff, 86, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2020 with his wife, Sandra by his side. Keith was born May 27, 1934, in Duluth, Minnesota. He was the second of four children born to Lyonal and Hazel Duff. Keith grew up attending schools in Duluth; graduating from Duluth Central High School in 1952. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force; was stationed at Oxnard Air Force Base in California; and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. When Keith was honorably discharged in 1956, he returned to Duluth and married his first wife, Donalda Vickers. Together they had two daughters.
From a young age, Keith loved participating in sports. He was a fastpitch softball pitcher, a curler who played in many bonspiels, a bowler with many 300 games, a pool player participating in various pool leagues, and a lifetime golfer. His passion for golf led him back to California where he attended the Professional Golfers’ Association of America and became a PGA golf professional. Over the course of his life, he was the golf pro at Lester Park Golf Course in Duluth; Nemadji Golf Course in Superior, Wisconsin; and Kino Springs Golf Course in Nogales, Arizona. Keith played in many golf tournaments across the Midwest and Canada and took pride in having his daughters caddy for him. Keith also played on the Senior PGA Tour. He had a total of 14 holes-in-one; his last one at the age of 74.
In 1988, Keith married Sandra Campion. They lived in Arizona for a few years and then returned to Hopkins, Minnesota. Together they enjoyed traveling, playing cards, spending time with family and friends, and just being together. Keith also enjoyed providing golf lessons at the New Hope Golf Course and working at the Hopkins, Edina, and Eden Prairie ice arenas. He would get requested to resurface the ice during tournaments and was referred to by some as the “best Zamboni driver ever.” A fond memory in Keith’s life was winning his showcase as a contestant on 'The Price is Right.'
About ten years ago, Keith made the decision, led by God, to become a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. This decision brought peace to his soul. Keith was also a member of the Elks Club for over 50 years, the American Legion, and the VFW to name a few. Keith lived life to the fullest and had a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed. He made the decision several years ago to donate his body to the University of Minnesota for medical research.
Keith is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughters, Cynde (Keith) Johnson, and Shari (Tom) Sega; grandchildren, Kristi (Greg) Rian; Eric Johnson; Andrea (Rob) Johnson; and Grant (friend, Alyssa Johnson) Sega; siblings, Donna Lenfest; Dennis (Mary) Duff; and Jeanine (Howard) Towle; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Alice Duff; first wife, Donalda Voorhees; and his beloved dogs Zip and B.J.
