Obituary
Miss Elizabeth McLain was born in Bedford county, Pa., Feb. 10, 1851. When but a child her parents came to Decatur county, Iowa.
July 30, 1871, she was united in marriage to John Bower, of Mercer county, Mo., and to this union four children were born, three of whom are living and mourn the death of their mother--Mrs. Amer Willis, Mr. Ira Bower, Mr. Sam Bower, all of Cainsville, Mo.
Mrs. Bower was a faithful member of the Zion Baptist Church for the past 39 years. She was the youngest of thirteen children and only one brother survives her. The past year of her life was one of constant suffering, having been afflicted with a lingering disease, yet in trying affliction she was a patient sufferer and her death was a relief from pain.
Pastor Wood preached the funeral discourse on Monday afternoon at the Bower's rural home from the text. "Lord thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations," and Bro. W. J. Burrows sang beautifully and tenderly "Beautiful Isle of Some where." The body was laid to rest in Oaklawn cemetery to await the resurrection morn, and the loved ones that will be looking for the day of happy reunion in eternity.
May the Lord bless those who mourn the loss of wife and mother, and bring them comfort and tenderness that only a heavenly Father can give. R. L. Wood
