"Dewey S. Boatman, 73, of Holtwood R2, died unexpectedly at 9 a.m. Sunday at his home. He had been under the care of a physician. He was the husband of Alice Ebilhock. He was born in Pequea, the son of the late Harry G. and Abbie J. Bleecher Boatman. Boatman was a plumber by trade, having retired in 1964. He was a member of Charles M. Howell Lodge 496, F & AM, Millersville; Lancaster Lodge of Perfection; Harrisburg Consistory; Zembo Temple, Harrisburg; Pequea Boat Club, Sportsman's Club of Lancaster County; and the R and L Club of Lancaster, American Legion Post 603, Quarryville. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War I and II. He was discharged after 30 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following step-children: Victor J. Ruth Jr., Millersville; Richard C. Ruth, Scott Air Force Base; Patricia, wife of Thomas Crawford, Culver City, Calif.; Brian Ruth, Dell City, Okla.; Judith, wife of Edward Allison, Lancaster and William Melchior, Little Rock, Okla. He is also survived by the following sisters and a brother: Mrs. Hannah Beach, Neffsville; Mrs. Melinda Ginger, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mrs. Ruth Andre, Lancaster; Virginia, wife of Paul Deitzel, Harrisburg; and Maris Boatman, Holtwood RD."
