Clarence N. Allen, of Chadwick, was born Dec. 4, 1932, to Charles and Rinda (Hall) Allen. He passed away June 1, 2004, surrounded by family and friends at the age of 71 years, 5 months, and 27 days. He attended Chadwick and Sparta Schools before serving his country for four years in the U.S. Navy. He did construction work for many years, and also took care of his farm, which he loved dearly. On Nov. 24, 1965, he and Cleta Shipman were united in marriage. To this union a son, Denny Lee Allen, was born. Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles and Rinda Allen; four sisters, Florence Morrison, Dorothy Loomis, Alma Coffer, and Elsie Gray; two brothers, Herman Allen, and an infant brother, Thomas; brothers-inlaw, Harrison Coffer, and Reggie Gray; dear nieces and nephews, Leonard Gray, Warren Jenkins, Freda Heyn, and Brenda Smith. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Cleta Allen; his son, Denny Allen, Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Hazel Jenkins, Ozark, and Gladys Gilbert, Oldfield; brothers-inlaw, Basil Jenkins, Ernest Morrison, Farris Shipman, and Paul Shipman; sisters-inlaw, Evelyn Allen and Mary Neff; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. Jerry Applegate and Rev. Darrell Mead officiating. Burial will follow in Chadwick Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
