Mary Azalea Nowlin, age 92, of Tyler, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Azalea was born January 26, 1931 in Buffalo, Texas to the late Nathan and Ruby Bottoms.
Azalea shared a long and loving marriage of 44 years with John "Jay" Nowlin prior to his death in December of 1994. She had no greater joy than that of her family, including two daughters and one son, and many grand and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted homemaker and always welcomed everyone who entered their home with open arms. Many friends and family were blessed by her delicious meals and hospitality. She always had a way of making everyone feel special and put everyone else's needs above her own. Azalea also had a great love for music, especially gospel, and her favorite, Daniel O'Donnell. She was always found cheering on her favorite football player, Patrick Mahomes, during every Chiefs game she could find on tv. Azalea loved the Lord with all her heart, which showed in all of her loving and caring ways. She is no doubt celebrating in Heaven right now, and is probably making the rounds giving out hugs and making chocolate pies or some other delicious treat to share with everyone.

Azalea was preceded in death by her husband, John D. (Jay) Nowlin; daughter, Linda Sudduth; parents, Nathan and Ruby Bottoms; brothers, Kenneth Bottoms, Arlton Bottoms, Billy Harold Bottoms, Bobby Joe Bottoms; and sisters Patsy Bottoms Ray, Peggy Bottoms and Linda Kay Bottoms.

Azalea is survived by her daughter, Laura Meadows of Tyler; her son, Randy Nowlin (Tara) of Tyler; grandchildren, Amanda Deck (Jeff) of Tyler, Angela Russell of Tyler, Josh Meadows (Kelci) of Flint, Nick Nowlin (Charis) of Tyler, Alex Nowlin of Tyler and Matt Nowlin of Tyler; Great grandchildren, Elizabeth

Russell, Amelia Russell, Logan Deck, Lindsey Deck, Briley Meadows, Hayes Meadows and Lovessa Nowlin; sister, Brenda Batson of Alvin, Texas; and brother, Larry Bottoms of Alvin, Texas.

A time of visitation for Mary will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, immediately followed by the graveside service at 2:00 pm at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum.
