Ota Magee, eldest child of 7, of Albert Warren and Eliza Nelson Magee was born October 28, 1884, near Crete, Nebraska and departed this life April 18, 1985, at Colonial manor (sic) at the age of 100 years, 5 months, and 21 days.

Ota spent his early years in Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas. In 1913 he went to Canada and homesteaded. He became a citizen of that country and served with the Canadian army during World War I. After the war he returned to the United States and on December 30, 1930 (sic), was marred (sic) to Ida May Youtsey, who preceded him in death in April, 1927.

Ota and Ida May returned to Canada and to this union four children were born: Russell of New Hampton, Kathleen Miller of Gilman City, Mildred Crabtree of Fallbrook, California, and the fourth died in infancy back in Canada.

He accepted Christ as his savior and later transferred his membership to the New Home Baptist Church near McFall Missouri.

Ota and his three children returned to the United States shortly after the death of his wife to be near relatives to help in the rearing of his children, and he spent the rest of his life in and around the Bethany and New Hampton area.

Additional survivors include a sister, Etta Castle of LaVerna Heights, in Savannah, Missouri, 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, for all were Ota's friends.

He spent the last five years of his life in Colonial Manor where he had enjoyed good health until the last three weeks.

Ota was a friend of all, and he loved and cherished his family.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 21, at Noble-Roberson Funeral Home, New Hampton with burial in Foster Cemetery. Dr. E.L. Dierking officiated. Music was furnished by Rev. Gerald Lewis, with grandsons acting as pallbearers.
