George Alexander Tomlinson was the son of George Fleming Tomlinson and Sarah Margaret Lane. He married Martha Maud Starnes 12/24/1905 in Tulia, Swisher Co, TX.

George A Tomlinson, retired building contractor, died yesterday at 7:15 a.m. at his home, 3712 Fountain Terrace, after having suffered a heart attack.
Mr. Tomlinson was 70.
He had been a resident of Amarillo since 1924, and since his retirement from the building industry several years ago he had worked in the office of Hubert Cole, Potter County tax assessor-collector.
He was a member of Polk Street Methodist Church and recently was elected to the board of stewards of that church. He was a member of Amarillo Lodge No.731, A.F. & A.M., and a charter member of the San Jacinto Kiwanis Club.
Mr Tomlinson was born Dec. 16, 1885, at Oklaunion, Tex., and came to Amarillo 32 years ago from Tulia.
Mr and Mrs. Tomlinson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last Christmas Eve. They were married Dec. 24, 1905, at Tulia.
The family lived at one time on a ranch in Hutchinson County at the site of the present town of Stinnett.
Funeral services for Mr. Tomlinson will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Dr Eugene Slater, pastor of Polk Street Methodist Church,and Dr. H Clyde Smith, of San Jacinto Methodist Church, will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Frank Wardle, Sid Harper, Hubert Cole, Carl Ray, Gordon Jordan and J.R. McDowell. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mr. Tomlinson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Maude Tomlinson; two daughters, Mrs. Winnie May Piper and Mrs. George W. McKee of Amarillo, and three sons, W.A. Tomlinson, Phillips; C W Tomlinon, Amarillo, and G.A. Tomlinson Jr., of Tulsa. He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Howard Tomlinson of Amarillo, and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. George A. Tomlinson, 3712 Fountain Terrace, were honored yesterday with an open house celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Children of the couple were hosts and hostesses for the occasion. They were Mrs. Winnie Mae Piper, Mrs. George McKee and C. W. Tomlinson, all of Amarillo; Alford Tomlinson of Phillips, G. A. Tomlinson Jr. of Tulsa, Okla.; and a daughter-in-law , Mrs. Howard Tomlinson of Amarillo.

The serving table was centered with an arrangement of gold-colored chrysanthemums, while the remainder of the entertaining rooms were decorated in the Christmas motif. Mrs. C. W. Tomlinson greeted guests at the door, and a granddaughter, Miss Barbara Tomlinson, presided at the register. Approximately 200 were included in the guest list.

Others in the house party were daughters-in-law of the honorees.

The senior Tomlinsons moved to Amarillo about 35 years ago from Tulia, where they were married on Christmas Eve, 1905. At one time the family lived on a ranch where Stinnet is now.

Mr. and Mrs. Tomlinson are members of Polk Street Methodist Church, and belong to the XYZ group. A retired building contractor, Mr. Tomlinson's hobby is woodworking, especially constructing articles for his grandchildren. He is a member of the San Jacinto Kiwanis Club, and his wife is a Kiwanai-Ann. Mrs. Tomlinson enjoys crocheting and other handwork in her leisure hours.

There are 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Climaxing the holiday celebration will be a buffet dinner today in the McKee home, 1112 Bellaire. Guests other than the honorees, their children and grandchldren, will be Mrs. F. C. Tomlinson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. M. S. McKee of Lipscomb.
