NORA SPRINGS Audrey Vivian Hewitt, 91, died Thursday evening (Sept. 18, 2008) at the Nora Springs Care Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, located in Nora Springs (641-749-5527). Burial will follow the service.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Nora Springs.
Audrey was born in Cartersville, Iowa, on July 15, 1917, to Benjamin and Anna Deets. She had 13 brothers and sisters, Wilbur, Walter, Eugene, Ward, Virgil, Darrell, Clayton, Emmett, Dollie, Katherine, Anna Belle, Laurine and Mildred.
On July 2, 1936, Audrey wed Edward Hewitt. They had two children, a daughter, Joanne Ranney, and son, Dennis Hewitt.
Audrey was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed quilting, westerns, cards and collecting dolls and antiques. She also had a fond love for her dogs. She was a very caring, loving person and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren where they brought out each other's silliness.
Audrey is preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents, Benjamin and Anna Deets; several brothers and sisters, and a grandson.
She is survived by two sisters, her daughter, Kenneth and Joanne Ranney, her son, Dennis Hewitt; grandchildren, Susan and Glen Pyle, Cheryl Trappe, Sarah and Russel Bruce, Charlotte Ranney, Adrienne Ranney and Mick Wells; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
