Robert Franklin Bland, 81, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Bland worked at FMC for 19 years and he also worked at George Hyman Construction for 21 years. He had attended Massaponax Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the fiddle.
Survivors include his four children, Joyce A. Raines, Robert W. Bland, David F. Bland and Nancy B. McKeithan; his sister, Mary McCarty and husband, Willie; his grandchildren, Ray Raines, Tim Bland, Steven Bland, Chris Bland, Kimberly Bland, Ashleigh McKeithan, Chad McKeithan, Katlyn Bland and Sierra Bland; and his great grandchildren, Michael Raines, Bryant Kitts, Hailey Bland, Michael Spencer, Devin Spencer, Megan Fox and Jackson Bland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Gloria Bland and a son, Eugene Daniel Bland.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be held at noon Monday, Dec. 5 at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chad McKeithan, Steven Bland, Tim Bland, Chris Bland, Ray Raines and Michael Raines.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Attn: Trudy Clifton 113 Tallpines Dr, Locust Grove, Va 22508.
