ABBEVILLE, AL.…Donald Louis Wood, a resident of Abbeville, AL passed away Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2020, at his home. He was 79.
Donald Louis Wood was born in Valparaiso, Indiana to the late Edward Lee Wood Sr. and Leotta M. Breitzke Wood. He lived in North Carolina before moving to the Abbeville, Alabama (Screamer Community) over 27 years ago. In his earlier years he was an automotive mechanic and later started working on small engines. In his business, DJ Tool Sharpening, he was well known for his tool sharpening skills and willingness to help others.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Joyce (Zippel) Wood; his sister, Leotta (Allen) Weaver of Morgan field, KY; his daughters, Tena Gambrel of Indiana, Julie Neiner of Indiana, Nancy (Joe) Edwards of Indiana, and Donna Bouaziz of Pennsylvania; his son, Donald Wood II (Kathy) of Alabama; his step-daughter, Christine Aycoth (Joe) of North Carolina; his step-sons, Richard Cook (Kittie) of Abbeville, AL, and Shawn Cook (Jackie) of North Carolina also 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Wayne Ziegler; father-in-law, Harvey Zippel; mother-in-law, Marie Zippel; siblings, Edward Wood, Jr and Sandra Cook; and grandchildren, Dusty Neiner and Katie Shoaf.
Per Donald's wishes, cremation has taken place with Wright Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be private graveside services when he is interred at Saint Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Kouts, Indiana.
