THORNDALE – Funeral services for James A. "Doc" Moses, 79, of Thorndale were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Buddy Morton of Gause Baptist Chapel officiating. Burial was in Salty Cemetery.

Mr. Moses died Sunday, July 29, in a Rockdale nursing home.

A Thorndale resident for 31 years, he was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Williamson County to Calvin Rier Moses and Mary Ann Pratt. Mr. Moses worked at Alcoa for 33-1/2 years before retiring. He also raised cattle and hogs, loved hunting and fishing, and enjoyed country music. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Leander, Clyde and Russel Moses; and three sisters, Olie Moses, Katy Griffith and Lela Menn.

Survivors are his wife, Carmon O. Moses of Thorndale; a son, Allen Moses of Thorndale; a brother, Henry Moses and wife Linnie of McDade; and two sisters, Edna Clopton of Houston and Nora Dell Robertson of Lexington.

Pallbearers were John Griffith, Ervin Griffith, Alfred Griffith, Jackie Moses, Randy Moses and Ricky Moses.
