Rosa's sister, Lorena Belle, informed her death certificate. However, Lorena reported her sister as born in 1882, and "Rosetta" is shown in the 1880 census as age 3, with her family, so that is used as the year of her birth here. Her year of birth is slippery. In the 1900 census it is given as 1879. In another record it is given as 12 Apr 1891. What is consistent is the month of April, and the day of the 12th. Her place of birth can be slippery as well--generally as Illinois, but sometimes as Kentucky, where her parents were born.

Rose Eckler married Lyman Trumbull Crain on August 8, 1909, in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri. Lyman was a brakeman for the railroad. He died on January 5, 1926, at age 46, a native of Missouri, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, from pneumonia. His death certificate records his burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Lyman was the son of Richard Henry Crain and his wife Sarah Jane Roundtree, or maybe Rountree.
