Died, at the residence of her son-in-law, Joseph Biggs, on the 24th inst. at 3 o'clock a.m., Grandma Margaret Lamar, in the 81st year of her age. She was one of the old residents of Georgetown, having come here in 1847, where she has resided ever since. She was the mother of eleven children, seven of whom survive her. She had forty-one grand children and forty-five great grand children, making a family of ninety-seven children. She was a member of the M. E. church, having been converted in her youth before leaving her native state, Kentucky. She has lived a faithful christian and was always found at her post of work; the class meeting was her favorite service, and her seat was always occupied until she became so feeble she could not get to the church. Her funeral services were preached at the M.E. church on the 25th at 11 o'clock, by Rev. W.A. Reynolds. The church was beautifully draped and a large
audience was in attendance. The services were introduced by the choir singing "Home of the Soul." Rev. Reynolds took for a text the latter clause of 10th verse of 23rd chapter of Numbers, "let me die the death of the righteous and let my last end be like his." After the services the remains were laid away in the Georgetown cemetery beside her husband who had preceded her many years.
