REV. AMBROSIUS BURIAL AT ASTORIA, ILLINOIS
Last rites for the Rev. Donald Ambrosius, 48, Butler, who died unexpectedly May 6 after suffering a heart attack, were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, at the First Christian Church, Butler. Dr. Lester B. Hickman, Jefferson City, general secretary of Missouri Association of Christian Churches, officiated assisted by the Rev. W. R. Tucker, Harrisonville, president of District VIII of Christian Churches, and the Rev. Roy Blalock, pastor of the Butler Christian Church. Mrs. William McGuire, organist, accompanied singers, Mrs. John Mills and Mrs. Don Linard.

Pallbearers were the Reverends N. Vernon Blankenship, Clinton, Paul Hartenberger, Appleton City, John Harvey, Creighton, David Hicks, Windsor, Richard Person, Belton, and Keith Wilcox, Nevada.

The body then was taken to Huntsville, Ill., for services, May 9, in his boyhood church and then burial in the Astoria, Ill., cemetery.

The Rev. Ambrosius, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Ambrosius, now of Augusta, Ill., was born June 21, 1915, near Huntsville, Ill. On Oct. 10, 1934, he married Irma E. Roosa to which union were born three children.

At Rock Island, Ill., the Rev. Ambrosius was a city bus driver for seven years and farmed for a time near Astoria, Ill. He then served full time pastorates in Illinois at Palmyra, Scottsville, Hettick, Modesto, Youngstown, Keithsburg, Ipava and Winchester. Seven years ago he moved to Butler from LaBelle, Mo., and through that time has served as district minister for District VIII of the Missouri Association of Christian Churches.

A Christian Church member since a small lad he had transferred his membership to Butler upon moving there. He was, indeed, a dedicated Christian.

The Rev. Ambrosius endeared himself to all with whom he worked and was held in high esteem by all those who learned to know him.

Besides his wife and parents, he leaves two sons, Gerald Lee and Norman Roy, of the home; a daughter, Miss Ruby Jean, Morton Grove, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Pearl) Jett, Jacksonville, Ill.; a brother, Sterling, Augusta, Ill.; many other relatives and friends.
