Bruce was born July 21, 1952, as the third son of the late Doris Gruber Adams and Dr. Frederick Fletcher Adams, Jr. He lived most of his life in Spartanburg, SC.
Bruce was happiest at the beach house on Sullivan's Island where he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with friends. Bruce loved to read and shared his love for reading by teaching adults to read at the Spartanburg Adult Learning center. His love for community led him to volunteer at the Second Presbyterian Soup Kitchen for more than ten years. Bruce spent the last years of his life serving as caregiver for his mother.
Bruce is survived by his son, William Tanner Adams and daughter-in-law Virginia Elizabeth Adams and granddaughter Izabella Hambrick Adams and by four brothers; Dr. Frederick Fletcher Adams, III of Spartanburg, Dr. Robert Johnson Adams of Augusta, GA, John Scott Adams of Crowder's Mountain, NC, and William Mark Adams of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and best friend, Jo Ann Bristow and her son John of Spartanburg, SC.
