Dr. Frederick Fletcher "Fred" Adams, Jr., 66, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, July 10, 1989, at his summer residence on Sullivans Island.

A native of McColl, SC; husband of Doris Gruber Adams and son of the late Frederick Fletcher "Fred" Adams, Sr. and Alma Easterling Adams.

A graduate of the College of Charleston and the Medical University of South Carolina, a retired pediatrician, a member of the Academy of Pediatricians, and served on the State Board of Medical Examiners.

A member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Isle of Palms, and was a World War II Army Air Corps. veteran.

Also survived by sons, Dr. Frederick Fletcher Adams, III, Robert Johnson Adams, Ph.D., George "Bruce" Adams (1952–2011), John Scott Adams, and William Mark Adams; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Adams Gray (1918–1997) and Jane Hamer Adams Crutchfield (1923–2009); and six grandchildren.

Graveside services were held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
