Born in Providence, a son of the late William and Mary (Andrade) Halde, he lived in Pawtucket most of his life.
An Army veteran of World War II, he had been a prisoner of war.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Pamela R. Tweedie of Pawtucket and Holly Szerbin in Pennsylvania; a son, Ernest W. Halde Jr. of Hyannis, Mass.; two sisters, Eunice V. Fortin of South Attleboro and Elaine V. Weiss of Cumberland; six grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 8 a.m. from the William W. Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in the Church of St. Leo the Great, 699 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
