Before moving to Augusta in 1964, she was very active in civic, church and school affairs in Alabama while serving two terms as President of the Junior Woman's Club. Mrs. Ducey served on the Board of Mental Health for Etowah in Gadsden, Al. and was crowned "Mrs. Alabama" in 1958. Mrs. Ducey was a business woman, former owner of Button & Bows Fabric Shop in National Hills and Ducey Automotive of Martinez. She and her husband retired in 1997. She was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir, she also served as Extraordinary Minister, Visitation of the Sick and on the Worship Committee. Mrs. Ducey served as a volunteer for many years with Catholic Social Services and St. Joseph Hospice. She was also a member of The Sacred Heart Guild and served as president for the Parents Advisory Board of Lynndale, Inc.
The funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Ross celebrant. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Josh, Zachary, John, and Austin Ducey, Jimmy Hester and Leonard Remy.
