Obituary 28 Feb 1941 - The Daily Courier Connellsville

Charles Fowler, 78 years old, a widely-known resident of the Greenhouse district at Dunbar, died at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Fowler, who was born July 7, 1863, at Rothley, Leicester county, England, came to this country at the age of 21. He resided for many years at Ligonier and located at Dunbar 39 years ago. A member of the Wesley Methodist Church, the Carroll Bible Class, the Knights of Pythias and the Odd Fellows Lodge, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice Bowles Fowler; two sons, George F. of Scottdale and Walter of Verona road, Pittsburgh; three daughters, Margaret, Carrie and Bernice, all at home; eight grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. S. T. Fields of Monrovia, Cal., and one brother, William Fowler of Tucson, Ariz.

A private funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home with Rev. O.G. Cook of Dunbar and Rev. Harry L. Humbert of Fairchance officiating. Internment will be made in Green Ridge Memorial Park at Pennsville in charge of Funeral Director James T. Burhans of Dunbar.

Charles Fowler, 78, formerly a resident of Ligonier Valley, died Thursday of last week at his home in Dunbar. Mr Fowler was born at Rothley, Lieceshire, England, and came to this country at the age of 21. He made his home in Dunbar for the past 39 years.

Mr. Fowler was a stone mason by trade.

He was a member of the Wesley Methodist church and of the Carroll Bible class. He had been a member of the Odd Fellows for the past 60 years and was likewise a member of the Knights of Pythias.

Private funeral services were held at 2 o'clock SUnday at Dunbar with the Rev. O.O. Cook, pastor of the Wesley Methodist church, and Rev. L.R. Humbert, of the church of Fairchance, in charge. Interment was in the Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.
