Waymon was a Flight Engineer on B29 Bomber Aircraft. Corporal in the Army Air Corp. WWII. Served in the 878th Squadron 499 Group 20th Airforce on the Island of Siapan and Tinian. He was there during the delivery of the atomic bomb and where he participated in the strategic bombing campaign against Japan, earning two Distinguished Unit Citations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/878th_Bombardment_Squadron
Waymon and his older brother Hillon went into the used car business for a short time after WWII with little success. Eventually he moved to Tampa Florida closer to his youngest brother Willie. In his final years he moved to Charleston, SC to be closer to his only and dearest child Julie.
