ATHOL - Ruth R. Allen, 77, of 147 Ridge Ave. died Wednesday at Athol Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

She leaves a brother, Ernest R. Allen of Greenfield; three sisters, Beatrice A. Allen and Edith T. Miller, both of Athol, and Helen B. Pauze of Enfield, Conn.; several nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews. Born in Groton, she was the daughter of Rowan W. and Edith M. (Kaddy) Allen, and lived in Athol for 60 years.

Miss Allen graduated from Leominster High School in 1931. At one time, she was employed as a nurse's aid at the Walter E. Fernald School in Baldwinville. She was a member of the Athol-Orange Baptist Church and a former superintendent of the primary department of the Sunday school.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held tomorrow at 4 p.m. in the Athol-Orange Baptist Church, Church and Walnut streets, with the Rev. Kim Nelson officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, West Townsend, at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Athol-Orange Baptist Sunday School, 131 Ridge Ave., Athol, Mass. 01331, or to the Athol-Orange Community Health Service, 423 Main St., Athol, Mass. 01331. Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., is conducting arrangements.
