Cecil A. Bookhardt, 57, died Wednesday afternoon at the Orangeburg Regional Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Orangeburg Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert L. Tutas officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, Orangeburg County Unit, a family spokesman said. Friends may call at the residence, 1911 Dantzler N.E., and at the Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Richard Stroman, Howard Murray, Hubert Wactor, Lide Gates, Mason Livingston and John Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be local Postal employees and members of the Men's Bible Class of the Orangeburg Lutheran Church. Mr. Bookhardt was born in Elloree, son of the late Lewis W. and Ida Houser Bookhardt. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for 27 years, was a member of Ornageburg Lutheran Church and Men's Bible Class of the church and served in the U.S. Army in the southwest Pacific and Japan during World War II. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Adelle Brandenburg Bookhardt of the home; daughter, Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Morgan of Columbia; son, Andy C. Bookhardt of Orangeburg; three sisters, Mrs. Breda B.
