Dorothy A. (Kent) Bailey, 77, of Martinsville, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Grand Valley Health and Rehabilitation in Martinsville.
She was born Wednesday, June 10, 1942 to the late Ira J. Kent, Sr. and Lucille (Ferran) Kent in Bloomington, Indiana.
Dorothy worked at Martinsville High School for over 18 years as a custodian. She previously worked at RCA in Bloomington and Old Hickory in Martinsville. Dorothy loved to shop, crochet, and sew. She was a very skilled seamstress and made lots of clothing for her family. She also loved cooking and baking. Most of all, she loved her family and particularly loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. "Bob" Bailey who she married January 6, 1960; sons, James Douglas Bailey and wife Karen, Jack Ray Bailey and wifeTracy; daughter, Carman Jean Bailey; brothers, James Kent, Ronald Kent, Robert Kent; sisters, Diane Ferrand, Linda Hayes, Kathy Locke, Anita Basey; grandchildren, Kayla Bullock, Breanna Miller, Meranda Faller, Kaitlynn Bailey, Nick Watkins, Jerica Bailey, Brandon Perry; great grandchildren, Justice Miller, Raelynn Faller, Emmett Feltner, Lucy Perry, Talula Perry, Jeremy Watkins.
Preceding her in death are her parents; son, Robert P. Bailey; brothers, Ira Kent, Jr., Henry Kent; sisters, Margaret Atkins, Marilyn Tackett, Mary Shirley Kent, Violet Rose Kent.
Private services for the family are Friday, May 22, 2020 at Costin Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Bolin officiating.
Burial will be at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
